Last week, I was in Chicago for the annual National Meeting of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. This year's topic was a consultation on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The FDLC, in conjunction with the Bishop's Committee on Divine Worship of the NCCB, was asked to evaluate the National Statutes for the implementation of the RCIA. Basically, you had over 200 diocesan liturgical leaders studying, speaking with, and advising our Catholic Bishops. The meeting was very positive and served to energize our commitment to implementing the RCIA.
Thanks to Fr. Carlos Flores, Msgr. Pete Zaccardo and Fr. Bill Morris for covering the weekend's liturgies here at St. Anselm!
After the meeting in Chicago, I traveled down to Notre Dame for the football game against Stanford (ND won), and to visit my two young cousins who are currently studying at Notre Dame. It was also a chance to visit with some friends at Moreau Seminary. The highlight of the weekend was the chance to celebrate a 10:00 p.m. Mass in my cousins' dorm. I asked the 300 young women to pray for the people of Saint Anselm parish during the prayer of the Faithful. Afterwards, there was some nice social-time, and I've been invited to come back in the Spring to celebrate again.
After a lot of travelling, it is really great to be back home!
